A+DEN Conference registration is now open!
The 2008 A+DEN conference will be hosted by the Chicago Architecture Foundation in partnership with the American Architectural Foundation and generous support from the National Endowment of the Arts.
Join us in Chicago to network, socialize and share our experience as design educators. Meet colleagues from across the country and around the world who share your passion for K-12 design education. Get inspired by work that others are doing. Learn from the experiences of your peers. Gather ideas for new programs.
Conference highlights:
- Ellen Lupton, writer, curator and graphic designer will be delivering the opening keynote. Ms. Lupton is the Director of the Center for Design Thinking at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and is the author of several books on design including D.I.Y. Kids.
- Sharon E. Sutton, PhD, FAIA, architectural educator and author of Weaving a Tapestry of Resistance: The Places, Power, and Poetry of a Sustainable Society, will keynote on the second day of the conference. Professor Sutton is the director of the Center for Environment, Education, and Design Studies at the College of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Washington.
- Peter Exley, Chicago architecture and co-author of Design for Kids, will host a special design educator's version of the popular event Pecha Kucha. To apply to be one of the presenters, contact us. Send an email to krehbein@architecture.org with "I would like to present at the A+DEN Pecha Kucha" in the subject line.
- Break-out sessions on key topics will be identified in the A+DEN conference attendee survey.
- Special evening events for socializing will be held at architecturally significant locations throughout downtown Chicago.
The Chicago Architecture Foundation will provide a menu of activities, including tours and sightseeing opportunities, to conference attendees who arrive early or stay the weekend.
