Using geometry, algebra, computation, and ratio skills, students will explore how the sun and shadows can be used to measure tall buildings.

Introduction: 
Architects must consider latitude and orientation to maximize the positive impact and minimize the negative impact of sunlight on a building. In addition, architects must determine how the building’s shadow will affect the buildings around it. Such considerations take place throughout the design process; they are not afterthoughts.
