Based in Chicago, ACE’s Illinois affiliate works with more than 40 local public high schools to encourage interested young people to pursue careers in architecture, construction and engineering. During the affiliate’s 2009-2010 year, volunteers from local industry professional firms mentored 205 students as they engaged in a full range of learning activities from construction site visits to creative “hands-on” projects.
An ACE “Affiliate of the Year,” ACE Chicago also provides scholarships and internships for students who pursue a course of study leading to a career in the building industry. Since its founding, the affiliate has awarded scholarships valued at $600,000.
