Organization Description:

Priestley School of Architecture and Construction is a dynamic new charter school that has at the center of its mission the global exposure of its students to anything that will positively impact their educational experience. In the past, school curriculums have been created that only fed or bolstered the academic side of a child. This has created a gap among the students who need something extra in order to realize the importance of education in their lives.

Priestley’s curriculum offers students the ability to experience a high standard academic curriculum while enriching student with opportunities to meet and work with industry professionals in the areas of architecture, construction, engineering and anything that is related to the world of design. Priestley has a strategic plan that effectively follows each student and creates a plan according to the individual’s academic needs. The strategic plan also provides the school with a strong foundation that we use to teach our students the Design Process. Because our curriculum is disseminated through the Design Process, the students engage in hands-on application, analysis and real world applications within subject matter they are learning. Students are taught to solve problems relevant to their communities through design. In addition, we give our students a platform to hone their presentation skills through a series of product presentations and critiques; thus, giving the students the opportunity to learn valuable presentation and communication skills as a part of our academic curriculum. This is a school where students are empowered to become true academic and professional leaders. Our children are taught to embrace relationships with industry professionals who can assist them with practical knowledge concerning their career paths and educational internships.
