ACE Mentor Program of Greater Charlotte, NC

Program Description:

Founded in 2007, the ACE Mentor Program of the Greater Charlotte Area is an after-school program for high school young people interested in exploring career opportunities in architecture, construction and engineering.

Through office tours, videos and field trips, the program introduces students to the industry’s various disciplines. In addition, under the mentorship of industry professionals, students work in teams on projects that simulate “real-life” situations.

After a 2007 spring pilot program with 11 students and 8 mentors, the first full year program was completed in May 2008. Between 2008 and 2010 more than 150 students have participated from West Charlotte High School, Independence High School, and Myers Par High School.  The 2010-2011 school year promises to be an exciting one as the Greater Charlotte Area affiliate is please to welcome South Mecklenburg High School and Philip O. Berry Academy of Technology to the program.
